Tour de Spud, May 14, 2011
.

Join the GVBC Touring Group at Lewis and Clark Park in Belgrade (just off Main Street behind the Fire Station) on Saturday, May 14 for the Tour de Spud.  The traditional 46 mile route, which has been a touring favorite for years, makes its way on quiet roads to the roller coaster hills on Norris and Churchill Roads before dropping down into Amsterdam.  Riders can stop at Amsterdam Store for a little break and regroup.   There’s another short stretch of smaller rollers on Dyk Road before the route flattens out on its way to Manhattan.  The final 15 miles takes you from Manhattan to Belgrade via the relatively flat and lightly traveled Dry Creek Road.  Finish up back at the park where we started.

We are also offering a shortcut for those who may not feel up to tackling some of those hills.  The “Tour de Tater Tot” takes a more direct route to Churchill via West Cameron Bridge Road.  The shortcut shaves off about 10 miles.  This is an ideal route for beginners and for those of us who haven’t been able to get a lot of miles in during this awful spring weather we’ve been having.

There’s no fee to pay this year-just show up a little before 9AM to fill out a form and then have some fun!  If you have any questions, contact Jason Karp at belgradebobcat@msn.com or 599-2897. Maps of the routes are at the links below:
